Flexible working meeting Script

Introduction

  1. Welcome everyone to the meeting.

  2. Acknowledge that you will aim to provide an outcome within 2 months of the original application.

  3. Explain your involvement; to recommend an outcome to the Departmental Director.

  4. Explain roles (you as chair, me taking notes)

  5. Explain that a decision is not likely to be made in the meeting, but we will aim to make that decision as soon as possible.

  6. Acknowledge if they are accompanied, or not (he had the option to bring a colleague).

Review application

  1. Go through their original application to check that there are no additions/changes

  2. Ask what is the reason for the application?

  3. Ask what they think the impact would be

  4. Ask them to add any additional information to support their application.

  5. Ask any additional questions to help support your decision about the outcome, make challenges etc.

Conclude

  1. Reiterate that a decision will be made as soon as possible.

  2. Explain that if the organisation is not able to accommodate the application, this will be explain in full and it may seek to find a suitable compromise.
